When moving from&nbsp;older versions (4 or 5) of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gaeatech.com\/winlog.php\">WinLoG<\/a>&nbsp;to the latest&nbsp;version 6, it is important to understand that version 6 introduces a more centralized ecosystem through the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gaeatech.com\/gaeasynergy.php\">GaeaSynergy<\/a>&nbsp;platform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This guide outlines the essential steps and precautions for a successful transition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-step-1-backup-your-databases\">Step 1: Backup Your Databases<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Always create a complete backup of your existing project databases and main datastore before installing the new version.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Locate your database folder (typically found in&nbsp;<code>\"C:\\Program Data\\GAEA\\GaeaSynergy\\GaeaSynergy4\\Databases<\/code>&#8221;&nbsp;or  &nbsp;<code>\"C:\\Program Data\\GAEA\\GaeaSynergy\\GaeaSynergy5\\Databases<\/code>&#8220;).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Copy this folder and sub-folders to a secure network drive or external storage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-step-2-installation\">Step 2: Installation<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>When you install&nbsp;WinLoG version 6, the software is designed to facilitate a smooth transition. Version 6 of GaeaSynergy can be downloaded using the link below. Make sure you are logged in as the Windows administrator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gaeatech.com\/public\/GaeaSynergy6_Setup.exe\">www.gaeatech.com\\public\\GaeaSynergy6_Setup.exe<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-step-3-login-and-register\">Step 3. Login and Register<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The default login for version 6 is:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Username: Admin<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Password: admin<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Once installed, you must register your new version to access full functionality:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Open the software and go to Tools &gt; Manager License, then highlight the module to license and click on Register. Email us the new serial number and we will send you the new registration code.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you have an annual maintenance agreement, you can&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gaeatech.com\/support_registration.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">register online<\/a>&nbsp;to receive your registration code via email.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enter the code to unlock the software.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-step-4-upgrade-or-import-your-data\">Step 4. Upgrade or Import your Data<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Version 4 and 5 of WinLoG d0o not use the same databases and directories as version 6. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The data from version 4 or 5 must be upgraded or imported to use in version 6. This upgrade can only be done once and should be done before any new data is created in version 6. The upgrade will not affect your version 4 or 5 data it primarily just copies the data to \u201cc:\\ProgramData\\GAEA\\GaeaSynergy&#8221; and adds a few additional tables to the main database. &nbsp;To upgrade the data go to Tools &gt; Upgrade &gt; From GaeaSynergy Version 4 or 5.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alternatively, the version 4 or 5 data can be imported by going to File  &gt; Import &gt; GaeaSynergy 4 or 5 Data.&nbsp; You can import a list of version 4 or 5 projects, individual projects, templates, and lithology libraries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-step-5-discontinue-use-of-older-versions\">Step 5: Discontinue Use of Older Versions<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>It is strongly recommended that you&nbsp;<strong>do not<\/strong>&nbsp;continue using version 4 or  5 once version 6 has been installed. Version 6 will not recognize or &#8220;see&#8221; any new data created in version 5 after the initial installation and migration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Version 4 or 5 must be relocked so that version 6 can function properly. To do this in version 4 or 5 go to Tools &gt; Manage License and highlight WinLoG and then click on Relock. Fill in the form and click ok.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-summary\">Summary<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Upgrading from&nbsp;WinLoG version 4 or 5 to version 6&nbsp;involves moving your data into the integrated GaeaSynergy platform. While the installation process automatically copies your existing databases, you should manually back up your&nbsp;<code>.mdb<\/code>&nbsp;files first.
