Initially, these symbols and descriptions will be blank. Each lithologic library can typically store up to&nbsp;18 symbols. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To specify a symbol and description, click on the blank square. The following can be specified on the Symbol Descriptions form:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Description:<\/strong>&nbsp;Assign a default description to each symbol. These descriptions will automatically populate your log legends but can be edited for specific projects if needed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"475\" height=\"518\" src=\"https:\/\/gaeatech.com\/knowledge-center\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/image-99.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1438\" srcset=\"https:\/\/gaeatech.com\/knowledge-center\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/image-99.png 475w, https:\/\/gaeatech.com\/knowledge-center\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/image-99-275x300.png 275w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 475px) 100vw, 475px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Symbol<\/strong>: The symbol can either be drawn using the toolbar at the top or a bitmap symbol can be imported using the Import button on the toolbar.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Importing a Symbol: <\/strong>When importing a symbol it must be 40 x 40 pixels and have a 1 bit depth (monochromatic).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Importing from Predefined Symbols<\/strong>: WinLoG comes with 100s of predefined symbols that can be recombined to create your own unique libraries. This makes them immediately available to field crews using&nbsp;WinLoG Field Assistant&nbsp;on tablets.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Lithology Macros:<\/strong>&nbsp;To speed up data entry, you can create&nbsp;lithology macros&nbsp;that combine symbols with predefined text and titles, allowing you to insert common layers with a single click.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-summary\">Summary<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>To manage lithology in WinLoG, use the&nbsp;Symbol Libraries&nbsp;menu to create custom collections of up to 18 symbols each, complete with default descriptions.
