Collecting data in the field is only half the battle; the other half is ensuring that data is formatted correctly for your final reports. In the WinLoG Field Assistant ecosystem, Templates are the architectural blueprints that dictate exactly what data is collected and how it is displayed.

The Power of the Template-Driven Workflow

In WinLoG Field Assistant, a template isn’t just a background; it defines the data collection fields available on your Android tablet. When you create a new borehole, the specific template you select determines which tabs (Lithology, Samples, Well Construction, etc.) appear for data entry.

Standard Templates Included

The application comes pre-loaded with numerous industry-standard templates that can be used immediately or modified.

  • Geotechnical Templates: Optimized for Standard Penetration Tests (SPT), RQD, and core recovery.
  • Environmental Templates: Focused on PID headspace readings, monitoring well construction, and soil sampling metadata.
  • Lithology-Focused Logs: Designed for high-detail stratigraphic descriptions using standardized hatch patterns

Customizing Your Field Experience

While the default library is extensive, GAEA Technologies allows for deep customization:

  1. FTP Download: A wide variety of specialized templates can be downloaded from GAEA’s FTP site directly into the app.
  2. Corporate Branding: You can specify your company logo on the tablet to be automatically included in every borehole log generated in the field.
  3. Bespoke Design: For users with the network version of GaeaSynergy, you can design highly specific templates in the office and upload them to your private FTP for field crews to import and use.
