License scope and duration

Institutional teaching licenses

New grants are normally issued for 12 months and can be renewed at no charge while the institution remains eligible. The proposed initial allowance is up to 100 concurrent users, subject to approval and product-specific technical feasibility.

Individual student licenses

Individual, nontransferable licenses support approved coursework and learning. Current enrollment must be verified. GAEA confirms activation arrangements and renewal eligibility for each product.

Existing perpetual academic commitments retain their original terms. All new grants are subject to the applicable product EULA and academic addendum.

Permitted academic use

  • Classroom teaching and instructor preparation
  • Assigned coursework and supervised exercises
  • Approved noncommercial academic research

Commercial use requires a separate license

  • Paid consulting or client deliverables
  • Commercial design and third-party regulatory submissions
  • Resale, sublicensing or sharing license credentials

Learning resources and support

Academic users receive installation guidance, available documentation and tutorials, and access to standard updates during the license term. Individual course development, data conversion, network troubleshooting and priority support require a separate agreement. Reasonable support limits may apply.

Academic licensing questions

Is the program limited to particular countries?

No. Eligible institutions and students worldwide may apply, subject to applicable export restrictions.

Can a university use the license for paid consulting?

No. Paid consulting, client deliverables and commercial regulatory submissions require a commercial license, including work undertaken by an academic institution.

Can academic research be included?

Approved noncommercial academic research may be included. Describe the project in your inquiry so GAEA can confirm its eligibility.

Are renewals free?

New grants normally run for 12 months and may be renewed without an academic license fee while eligibility continues. Existing perpetual academic commitments retain their original terms.

Is certification included?

The planned GAEA Certified WinLoG Professional program will be free to everyone. Its assessment and enrollment arrangements will be published separately.
