This example shows how WinLoG applies automated QA/QC to a mineral exploration drill hole. ME-01 GOLD-QAQC combines detailed geology and mineralization descriptions, core samples and recovery, Au, Ag, Cu and As results, alteration and vein logging, and depth-linked validation findings over a 35 m borehole.
The data deliberately includes excessive core recovery, missing required Au and As results, conflicting duplicate Au assays, a high-grade Au result without a corresponding vein observation, and logged mineralization without a required assay. Each finding is linked to the affected sample, interval, analyte and actual value in the validation report.
The example contains deliberate geological, sampling and assay data-quality conditions rather than only idealized data. Sample MX-003 records 3.25 m of recovery for a 3.0 m interval, while MX-002 and MX-005 are missing required As and Au results. Two different primary Au values are recorded for MX-009.
The validation report contains 2 errors and 4 warnings. Required assay coverage is calculated from 46 populated sample-analyte slots out of 48 expected slots, producing 96% completeness.
Download the example files individually. The XML template and log can be imported into WinLoG Version 6 and customized for company, deposit, laboratory, commodity and exploration-program QA/QC requirements.
Demonstrates an integrated workflow for geological logging, alteration, veins, core recovery, sample tracking, assays and automated QA/QC.
Useful for gold and base-metal drilling programs, target evaluation, resource-definition drilling and geological database preparation.
Shows how sample completeness, assay conflicts, recovery and geological observations can be reviewed together before data are approved for interpretation.
WinLoG templates can be customized for deposit geology, alteration and vein terminology, commodity-specific assay suites, sampling procedures, laboratory QA/QC thresholds, company standards and governed review workflows.
